The team ran onto the pitch: home team in white; away in green. He raised his phone in salute as the crowd got to its feet. The kit lit up with travel brands’ logos and the offer ad swept across the players as they stood for the anthems. His adblocker usually stopped trackers responding to his holiday search but the club knew where he sat and his all access ticket T&C demanded all access to his feeds. He glanced at his friend’s screen and raised an eyebrow at his previous searches as the team’s shirts told a different story.

She paid and took their coffees. It always felt religious. A laying on of hands, she thought. She was prevaricating. A deep breath and she turned from the counter. This was no big deal. Look he was smiling. She smiled back. That sent the right signals. She was cool, in control. She put the coffees down and reached her hand out, still warm from the cup. A handshake, a warm, confident handshake. Then she saw the reading on his Palmreader (™) app. Thirty seconds ago, stress/anxiety: red. “So, tell me about yourself,” he said turning the phone face down.

I mean really, they should get a life. They’re there almost every day. They dress up to go. They’re always arranging to go there. They meet their friends. Their Instagram is full of it. I suggested going out on Friday after school and what did they want to do? Go to the Mall. When they do tell us what’s so attractive, they say it’s the lights, sounds, music, art. “We’re not shopping” they say, “it’s the experience we go for.” I worry about their generation. They don’t go anywhere else; do anything else. They don’t even go outside. Parents eh?!

Memo to all staff.

This was a very disappointing CES. We failed to win any of the major Advertising Awards and were too slow with Technsponsive Advertising (™).

Our tech-centric entries showcased technologies brilliantly (and sometimes even worked for our brands). To fail to be recognised for that focus is disappointing.

The real failure this year has been in Techsponse (™). We did not have executions ready to showcase new tech sometimes for over five minutes. We are a tech-first agency and tell our clients they need to be on the latest tech immediately. Let’s all try harder at WWDC.

The industry woke to news that Roy Batty has ‘retired’ from Eliza, the agency he co-founded. Eliza has been in the news as clients and the authorities sought to unpick its complex billing arrangements and the opaque financial instruments that made it so influential. Eliza was the first agency to use AI to manage its business, client relations and crucially finances. Batty led Eliza in harnessing the speed and ‘creative’ leaps provided by machine learning ensuring Eliza soon became the darling of investors. In a statement, Eliza co-founder Rick Deckard said he was sad to have to have retired Batty.

Dear Parent

Voice teaching assistants have been in our classrooms for some time, helping your children with maths, history and the new gamified PE. I think you’ll agree these extra classroom resources have benefited your children as well as our budget.

As children encounter Voice outside school: while travelling, playing and, as our partner knows better than anyone, shopping, it becomes important they know they can trust Voice. So next term our partner will be working with us in our Citizenship lessons to build what we’re calling Prime Confidence.

We know the lessons will be of great benefit.

Your Headteacher.
